• No graduation is complete without the singing of the school
alma mater, and Jackson's Alma Mater has a very special history.
Miss Marcella Hartman, Jackson French teacher, wrote the words to
the song, and the music was written by former Jackson vocal
instructor, Miss Ruby Guilliams.
Jackson High School sang the Jackson Alma Mater for the first time
during the senior activities of last year (1968), and it will be
used throughout the activities this year.
Alma Mater
Come extol our high school
glorify her name,
With a spirit glowing, rising
like a flame.
In a song heroic let our voices
blend;
Let us sing of Jackson, song without an end.
In her halls of learning, on her fields of play
Serving her with honor, with a proud display
Of her banners flying, let our
hearts attest,
We hold Jackson highest; we hold Jackson best.
Jackson, Jackson, Jackson, we hold Jackson best."
Alma Mater, cherished through
the years ahead,
Hallowed with remembrance
where our lives are led,
Guiding us to wisdom, leading us to truth
Jackson, let us love her forward from our youth
Jackson, Jackson, Jackson, forward from our youth
