The Powder Puff Football Game

The annual Powder-puff Football Game where the Junior Girls attempt to beat the Senior Girls, which of course is too ridicules an idea to  contemplate.see note

For non-Jacksonites, (let's not build any suspense here)... the outcome of the Powder puff game in 1975...

The Seniors Won.

The other years?

  • In a somewhat dubious bit of AJHS history... an incredible winning streak is in the record books. The AJHS Powder-puff Football games were all won by the SENIOR CLASS. Hmmm....

  • Sadly,  the fateful game that would should have broken the streak and brought a well deserved victory to the junior class was actually handed to the Seniors from the Class of '74.  In what can only be described as...well dog-gone just plain ugly officiating - the Seniors '74 preserved the streak. The official?  Well, if memory serves (it does) it happened to be a great teacher having a particularly bad day...this bearded biology teacher happens to still be teaching. I feel bad after all these years bringing this up again, so let's just say he can be found teaching biology over at Riley today and just happened to visit here recently!

  •     It might be noted... The class of 74, was not above resorting to gimmicks and weenie  "movie camera play" tricks in order to confuse or disguise the fact that none of us knew what we were doing.  The fact that our class used it a year later on the way to our route over the juniors, is duly noted.
