My girls and I are so touched by those of you who have reached out to us (through Jessica) to let us know of your memories of Tim. These are very special, especially to Adrienne and Alex who haven't met any of you and didn't know their Dad at that point in his life -- what a tribute! It's been a tough few months for us, but we're getting back to normal -- until the next wave of court appearances, etc. (YUK!) Who in a million years would have thought this would happen ??? I will do my best to keep Jessica and this website apprised of happenings over the next year so that any of you who would like to prepare something for the judge to consider (WOW!), or just stay in touch, you can do that. You all will never know the impact of your prayers ... Take care and thank you for thinking of us! Bridget (class of '75)

I'm working on a very humble "hippy birthday card" page..... as art history. In the "research I found this page. http://jacksonhs.com/covers.html

I sent the webmaster my kudos'. In my view it is the standard of excellence for high school web pages...it's AMAZING!
Since you work at a school and you are involved with the GHS reunions... I thought you might be interested.

Aloha,
Steve Purnell

Add to Dear Faculty, Staff, Students and Alumni of Andrew Jackson High School,

Your new web site, with the midi files organized by graduation year is "fan tastic"way to go there. When it comes down to it, the ones that tell the most alluring stories will write his and her story (history). So WRITE ON, your music resource provides a great art history. How many words does it take to describe The Rolling Stones, Petula Clark, Wham, or Yankee Doodle. It simply cannot be done. The music is a great way to bring back the memories and I commend your super efforts. Everything about the site works, and I hope my suspicion is true that you are proving to all the current students that it's fun to be smart.

NOTE:

While this was obviously written by a highly observant, intelligent individual, he hasn't been around JHS alumni to know that anything less than best effort, even when you're making this up along the way....isn't near enough fun.

We may have set a new traffic/visitor record this summer with the return of the Class of '72.

I've watched this stat for over two years now.  Since the day the South Bend Tribune article came out, the traffic has steadily increased.  It will be interesting to see if it spikes again now that word is getting out to our friends in the JHS Class of '75¾ and their new reunion photos are coming in.  Check out the stats!

Just Curious

Why Did I Hear BELLS  at JACKSON?

I admit to being a bit slow on the uptake, after all it was a year ago that I walked back into JHS for the first time since '75.  Took a year to finally bug me.

Brent Yaciw  '73 sends me a  video clip and while I'm watching him cruise into the Jackson parking lot , which got me to thinking about when I was there last year.

I walked in the back door and headed up the hall past the courtyard.  That's it.  I didn't venture another foot ....because that's when the bells starting shrieking and killed my little trip down memory lane.  Annoying is one thing, but  I was lucky enough to have been standing right under that thing went they went off..

Some guy starts hollering to some other guy to go ahead and test them and that's all I needed to hear. Good-bye, I'm outta here.. 26 years ...but I'll come back another time.

What were bells doing at Jackson.

This annoying apparatus cost money.  Out of all the things they might have spent money on, why bells? Are light bulbs too expensive? Hard to change?  How much could those things cost?

Don't tell any Jacksonite that the light system didn't work.

Solid Concept

It's not like the concept of green means go, yellow means caution (or go through the intersection faster if you're some people or stop if you're my mother) and Red means stop.  This is a proven thing. Colors are taught long before middle school right?

Not for politically correct reasons because that would mean the deaf are being discriminated against verses blind people who have no friends to tell them the yellow light is on...and who need to have friends or a dog to tell them stuff like that anyway.  Color blind ?  Nope we had color blind students who were able to grasp the principle idea of red on left, yellow in the middle, green on right....and you better be in class when the left side lit up.

So I'm wondering, just why in the heck go to all that trouble when something is working?

What could be the reason that Jackson Middle School received funding to remove the light system and install Bells?
