Brian G. Hay
July 19, 1955 -- July 4, 2005
Brian Glen Hay, 49, of Granger, IN, passed away on Monday, July
4, 2005, in South Bend, IN.
Brian was born on July 19, 1955, in South Bend, to Ralph and Priscilla Hay, and
was a lifelong resident of the area.
On August 31, 1980, Brian married the former Bonnie Heck. Along with Bonnie, his
wife of nearly 25 years, survivors are his beloved children, Connor and
Stephanie, at home. In addition, Brian is survived by his mother, Priscilla Hay
of South Bend; two sisters, Karen Hay of Three Rivers, MI, and Lisa Hay of
Indianapolis, IN; and by a brother, Alan Hay (Stefanie) of Blythewood, S.C. He
is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Ralph F. Hay, and his brother, Forest
Neil Hay.
A graduate of the former Jackson High School, Brian received a B.S. in
aeronautical engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Dayton
Beach, Fla., in 1976. He graduated from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science,
Indianapolis, IN, in 1978.
Brian was the third-generation owner of Forest G. Hay Funeral Homes, Inc.
An active community volunteer, Brian was involved in numerous organizations,
most notably the Rotary Club of South Bend, Independent Business Network and
Logan. Brian had a special devotion to Logan and its mission of service to
individuals with disabilities.
An avid sportsman, Brian was known for his great fondness of skiing in the Rocky
Mountains, where he often led his family and friends. He was a member of the
Morris Park Country Club and golfed there regularly.
Brian was a longtime member of St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church.
A gentleman in the truest sense, Brian is cherished by his family for his life
of professional and personal service to others. He consistently offered gentle
strength, kindness and humor to Connor, Stephanie, and all of the young people
in his life whom he so dearly loved.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 7, in St.
Anthony's Catholic Church. Memorial donations may be made to Logan, 2505 E.
Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615; or to Memorial Children's Hospital, 615
N. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46601.
