Debbie Waddell

These photos were sent to me by Debbie's Waddell's husband along with a touching description of how they met, Debbie's love of life and how he proposed to her for real after Debbie had tried to dissuade an admirer by saying she was already engaged with her "made up fiancιe`"   Later Debbie could say she really hadn't lied although at the time she'd never dreamed that one day he would actually be her husband.  As you can see, it's a pretty neat story  written in loving tribute to his wife.  I saved the story but moved the folder to CD and have not had a chance to find it.  However, when I do I look forward to being able to share this email with her friends and classmates.

The reason I'm putting them up now instead of waiting until I find the original message is because of some rumors that came out of the 30th reunion.  It seemed  a good time to share the photos and let you all know that Debbie died after a valiant struggle fighting cancer after enjoying a period of remission that are reflected in these photos taken shortly before her death.

Debbie lived in Scottsdale not too far from our house and I remember her from the Scottsdale pool and from seeing her around.  While not qualified to speak as a friend, I was sadden by her death and reminded of a girl who didn't care much about the fact that someone was younger than she was...she always had a smile for you.  Might not mean much to you but it was enough to make me remember that smile thirty years later.
